What are the best iPhone 6 battery cases?

Battery Cases

iPhones continue to get thinner, larger, and more powerful every year, but battery life clearly isn’t a priority for the engineering team at Cupertino. For many heavy users, the iPhone 6’s built-in battery just doesn’t offer enough juice. Fortunately, there is a simple solution for this problem: the battery case.

Today, we want to highlight four of the best battery cases for the iPhone 6. These will all extend your battery life significantly, but keep in mind that pickings are slim at the moment. There aren’t very many iPhone 6 battery cases on the market just yet, so variety is sorely limited, and availability is hit or miss. After all, a battery case requires a lot more parts than a simple plastic bumper. With that said, let’s examine what’s currently on offer.

Trianium Battery

Trianium Atomic battery case

  • Price: $59.95
  • Colors: Black
  • Battery: 3100 mAh

The Atomic case from Trianium is a simple, no-frills battery case that effectively doubles your iPhone 6’s battery life without adding too much bulk. You can charge and sync over a single cable, and the iPhone can stay in the case the entire time. It’s sleek, reasonably priced, and extraordinarily useful. I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to use this as my full-time case.

Alpatronix Gold and Blue

Alpatronix BX140 battery case

  • Price: $47.95
  • Colors: Black, gold, silver, multiple interchangeable bumpers
  • Battery: 3100 mAh

This battery case from Alpatronix is extremely similar to the Trianium case mentioned above. So similar, in fact, that they might actually be based on the same core design. Even so, this model is slightly cheaper, comes in three different base colors, and it offers numerous interchangeable colored bumpers. It doesn’t look quite as slick as the Trianium Atomic case, but the battery capacity is the same, and the customizable colors are definitely a nice additional selling point.

i-Blason Battery

i-Blason Beetle Sport battery case

  • Price: $79.99
  • Colors: Black, multiple interchangeable bumpers
  • Battery: 3200 mAh

If you’re in the market for something a little more durable, check out the Beetle Sport case from i-Blason. It has more than enough capacity to fully charge your iPhone 6, and it offers plenty of protection from drops and bumps as well. This case is a bit on the pricey side, but it does come with a selection of colored bumpers and an optional belt clip. It’s not the prettiest, cheapest, or thinnest case on the market, but it sure does offer a lot of bang for your buck.

Armorpro Battery

ArmorPro battery case

Along similar lines as the Beetle Sport case, the ArmorPro case from URGE Basics gives you plenty of extra battery life while protecting your expensive iPhone 6 from everyday bumps and drops. It sports an oddball aesthetic, but the added protection and the sizable 3500 mAh battery make this case worth looking at. Unfortunately, it’s currently unavailable, and nobody seems to know when it will be in stock. However, a very similar $100 case from Trianium is currently being teased, so keep an eye on that if the ArmorPro proves elusive.

You’ve got the power

If none of these cases strike your fancy, you do have other options at your disposal. You could always invest in a portable charger (like this 10000mAh battery pack from Anker), and pair it with any case of your choosing. An external battery pack can also charge other devices over USB, so your iPhone 6 and your spouse’s Nexus 6 can share a single power source. It’s definitely a respectable alternative.

Mophie, a company known for making excellent battery cases, sadly doesn’t have an iPhone 6 model available yet. That said, it seems very likely that it’s currently being worked on. Gorgeous high-end devices like the Mophie Juice Pack simply take longer to design and produce. If you have your heart set on a Mophie case for your new iPhone, you’re probably best off snagging a cheap case for the time being, and relying on a portable charger for some extra life.

Battery cases not your style? No worries! There are countless other iPhone 6 cases to choose from, and we’ve already done the research for you. From ultra-thin to heavy-duty, we’ve highlighted some of the best cases for just about any occasion right here at Geek.com.
