The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 are among the older phones that could turn emojis into pricey picture messages without telling you.
Phones as recent as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 could cost you a fortune every time you give a friend a wink or a smile. Shocked users have discovered that smiley-face emojis and emoticons are unwittingly costing them hundreds in their phone bills.
Older phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S, S2, S3 and S4, may handle emojis by turning them into picture messages, which cost more to send. The Galaxy Note, Note 2 and Note 3 and Galaxy Ace are also reported to be affected.

What this actually shows is that the cost of a MMS is as high now as 13 years ago when they came along. It's no wonder that they have never taken off big time as they should have become as unlimited as SMS several years ago as data costs fell.

Unlimited means unlimited. You really can't trust these companies.

If these people don't have unlimited texting which also includes unlimited picture messaging than they have plan that are far older than the phones they are using. The carriers have all had unlimited texting (including MMS) for a ridiculous number of years.
