Huawei says 4K on smartphones is not worth drain the battery

Chinese manufacturer Huawei has made it clear that he will not use 4K displays in smartphones in the near future. According to the president of the company's product line Handset Kevin Ho, advanced displays will lead to a large compromise battery that the company is not willing to accept.

"4K requires a lot of energy, so if you use it, you have to make compromises. 4K-display on a smartphone can give you a half-day battery life, but the display 2K can give you, maybe one day or more" Ho said. "4K is four times Full HD pixels so power consumption can be 4 or 8 times greater than Full HD, so smart compromises must be offline."

It is worthless UNLESS they are going to release a VR add on like Samsung did with he Note 4. I think Phones really need to get to 8K resolution to max out that feature...Its also a feature I really happen to like!

NO ONE is asking for a 4K screen on a phone. What a ridiculous idea that would only exist for marketing reason.

The Note 4's 5.7 inch 1440p display is probably the pinnacle of smartphone screens, anything more is overkill.
